Sensei Hufford has REVITALIZED and REDISCOVERED the WAY of the SAMURAI and created an integrated sword-based martial art called "RyuHi SenShiKen-Ryu." "DRAGON FIRE WARRIOR SWORD STYLE" Many think that the Samurai were just swordsman with a code of ethics (bushido) but they were truly more than that!! Each Samurai was trained not just in the art of the sword but in the art of the spear, staff, and empty hand combat. Included are: RyuHi SenShiKen-Ryu is the trilogy of Batto-do, Kenjustsu and Tameshigiri. Any one without the other is an incomplete art. The program progresses through SKR Tachi Toho and SKR Kodachi Toho as the foundation for Batto-do (wood and metal sword) and Tameshigiri (metal sword). Each level includes a Combat Kenjutsu / Kobudo aspect utilizing the concepts of Full-Contact Sports Kenjutsu using padded weaponry. Batto-do - Sword Fighting Art - SKR Tachi Toho (long sword - katana) uses both wood and metal to teach the student correct and practical sword technique (kihon giri waza, happon giri kihon kata, kumite kata, kyogikai kata and 10 Tachi Toho Kata). SKR Kodachi Toho (short sword - wakizashi) teaches the student the correct wood and metal short sword technique (kihon giri waza, happon giri kihion kata, kumite kata, kyogikai kata and 10 Kodachi Toho Kata). Tameshigiri - Cutting Art - both Tachi and Kodachi teaches the student proper and correct "live" sword handling technique. This is practiced using single, multiple and traditional patterns of cutting rolled tatami mats. Combat Kenjutsu - Fighting Art - Full-contact padded-weaponry technique is practiced to perfect rhythm, timing, speed, focus and ki while offering a well- rounded understanding of sword / weapon fighting strategy. In a few short breaths of trial and error you can experience the reality of full-contact combat. |
