Dr. Kevin D. Hufford born in September 29, 1955 in New York. Since 1979 he has been studying, training and teaching the martial arts. He graduated from the State University of New York where he received his B.S. in Biochemistry, M.A. in Chemistry and Ph. D. in Advanced Technology / Systems Science.

Dr. Hufford is Shodai Soke of RyuHi Toshi Karate-Do. The honor of his 10th Degree Black Belt and Hanshi title, in RyuHi Toshi Karate-Do, was bestowed on September 5th, 2009 by Hanshi Seifuku Nitta who heads the “Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai Kensei DouKoukai.” Dr. Hufford is Shodai Soke and holds the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt in RyuHi SenshiKen-Ryu as well as 6th Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, 4th Degree Black Belt in Kodachi Toho, 1st Degree Black Belt in Toyama-Ryu and 1st Degree Black Belt in Washin-Ryu Karate-Do.

Dr. Hufford, is the Founder of Dragon Fire Martial Arts Association – International and a certified Master Instructor in Sport Kenjutsu Kobudo. Since 1997 Dr. Hufford has studied, trained and continues to teach Shaolin White Crane Kung Fu, Qin Na and Qigong, Catching Fist Kung Fu and WuDangShan Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Dr. Hufford was certified in 2003 as a Qigong Instructor under YMAA’s Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming. In 2007 Dr. Hufford was certified as a Master Instructor in Taji and Qigong by Grand Master Jiang, Jian-ye in the Health Preservation Association. In 2009 Dr. Hufford founded “Long Huo Jann Dou Kung Fu" and "RyuHi Hakutsuru Ju-Jitsu."

In 2003 Dr. Hufford co-authored “Cutting Through the Mystery – Japanese Military Iai-Batto-Do” (isbn: 0-9747014-0-8) with Kyoshi Dana Abbott. In 2004 they co-authored “Kodachi-Iai – The way of the Japanese Short Sword – Iaido-Kenjutsu-Tameshigiri – Rank and Training Manual” (isbn: 0-9747014-1-6) and “Tachi-Iai – The way of the Japanese Long Sword – Iaido-Kenjutsu-Tameshigiri – Rank and Training Manual” (isbn: 0-9747014-1-4).

Dr. Hufford has accepted Hall of Fame inductions from the World Karate Union Hall of Fame, United States Martial Arts Association International Hall of Fame, International Jiu-Jitsu Hall of Fame, USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame, AustralAsian Martial Arts Hall of Fame, Cosmopolitan Florida Martial Arts Brotherhood Hall of Fame, Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame, Team Camacho International Karate Champion Awards, the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame and others.

In 1998 he opened Dragon Fire Martial Arts (www.goshindo.us) in Trumansburg, NY which is the Hombu Dojo for RyuHi Toshi Karate-Do. He currently teaches RyuHi Toshi Karate, RyuHi Hakutsuru Ju-Jitsu, RyuHi SenshiKen-Ryu – Iaido-Kenjutsu-Tameshigiri, Long Huo Jann Dou Gongfu, Qin Na, and Qigong and WuDangShan Taijiquan. He now trains and works with Grand Master Jiang, Jian-Ye in the Health Preservation Association as a Master Instructor in TaiChi and Qigong. Dr. Hufford lives with his wife Lorraine and two children, Kyle and Kiera in Trumansburg, NY.
